Charlestown

Charlestown is about five miles north of the city centre, on the south side of Victoria Avenue, next to Boggart Hole Clough. It's close to the M60 motorway - so there's good access to other parts of the city and the north west.

Living in Charlestown

Charlestown is mostly a residential area, but there is a small parade of shops including a post office and citizen's advice bureau, and a health centre on Charlestown Road. There are more shops on Victoria Avenue/Hollinwood Avenue, and a supermarket on the Rochdale Road/Victoria Avenue crossroads less than a mile away.

There are regular buses along Victoria Avenue, and Rochdale Road to the city centre, Middleton (where there are more shops and local facilities) and all the leisure and sporting activities at Heaton Park.

Boggart Hole Clough is one of Manchester's largest parks, with bowls, fishing, boating, football pitches, playground, running track, multicourts and woodland walks.
