Clayton is less than three miles east of the city centre. It lies on Ashton New Road; from Bank Street to the border with Tameside. Most homes are between Ashton New Road and the open land at Clayton Vale. Ashton New Road is a major route into the city centre from the nearby M60 motorway around Manchester, so there's good access to other parts of the city and beyond.

Clayton is within reach of a great range of excellent facilities around the City of Manchester stadium and the Sportcity complex - including athletics, squash and tennis, and the national velodrome cycling centre just off Bank Street.
