Longsight
Longsight is on Stockport Road, less than three miles south of the city centre. Stockport Road is a major route from the city centre to south Manchester, Stockport and Cheshire.
Living in Longsight
There's a large Asda Supermarket and smaller shops at Longsight centre on Stockport Road. Longsight market (open four days a week) on Dickenson Road is a busy traditional market. You can find a variety of eating places there too - including vegetarian and Caribbean cafes.
There's a variety of interesting shops including an 'antiques hypermarket', in neighbouring Levenshulme; and It's about three-quarters of a mile to the busy restaurants, shops and cafes along Wilmslow Road in Rusholme.
Public transport is excellent, with regular buses along Stockport Road and Birchfields Road - the vibrant city centre, with its employment, leisure and entertainment facilities is a few minutes journey.
Levenshulme train station, on the busy Manchester to Stockport line, is less than half a mile from homes in the south of the area.
